Yuma, AZ (YUM)
Yuma Amtrak Station (Code: YUM) is a charming and historic Amtrak rail stop in downtown Yuma, Arizona — located at 281 Gila Street, Yuma, AZ 85364. Situated near where the mighty Colorado and Gila Rivers meet, this location has been a vital transportation and crossing point for centuries.

📍 About the Station
Yuma’s rail service today consists of a platform waiting area where passengers board long-distance Amtrak trains. While there’s no enclosed station building on site, the platform sits next to what once was the historic Southern Pacific Railroad depot — a beautiful Spanish Revival station from 1926.
- Current services: Sunset Limited & Texas Eagle routes connect Yuma with destinations across the Southwest and beyond.
- Ownership: Tracks and platform are owned by the Union Pacific Railroad.
- Annual ridership & revenue: YUM serves thousands of travelers each year, making it an important regional stop.
🕰️ A Bit of History
Yuma’s rail heritage stretches back to the late 1800s. When Amtrak took over passenger service in 1971, the original Southern Pacific station was repurposed as the Yuma Fine Arts Museum. Its Spanish Revival architecture — with red tile roofs and wide porches — was celebrated for decades.
In 1976, the depot earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places, but sadly a fire in the mid-1990s destroyed the structure, and it was later removed.
🚆 Modern Plans: Yuma Multi-Modal Transportation Center
Today, plans are underway to bring a new era of transportation to Yuma. Thanks to more than $10 million in federal RAISE grant funding, the historic Hotel del Sol across from the current platform is being transformed into a regional Multi-Modal Transportation Center. Once complete, it will link Amtrak, intercity buses, and local transit in one convenient hub.
